Facebook 'Kill' Feature Deals

CALIFORNIA - After a four-month test, Facebook finally stop service that seeks to rival Facebook Deals Groupon service.

"After testing Deals for four months, we decided to discontinue this product within the coming weeks," explains Facebook to Reuters quoted by Mashable, Saturday (27/08/2011).

Facebook launches Deals in late April with hopes of 750 million more of its members to use the product in their everyday commercial transactions.

Deals feature itself is basically an extension of service up Places. Deals to provide incentives for Facebook users to integrate Places in their daily lives, and they are also an incentive for major marketers and brands to put more money into the Facebook platform.

"We think there is a major force in social networking to encourage the interest of the local business community," added Facebook.

"We've learned a lot from the tryouts and will continue to evaluate how best to improve local business," he concluded.
